For Families

You Cannot Always Be There. Someone You Trust Can.

Your parent may be living independently and making their own decisions. That does not mean every appointment, errand, form, phone call, and unexpected concern is easy to manage. Extraordinary provides personal local support while keeping your parent’s choices at the center.

Independent Does Not Mean Unsupported

Many older adults are not ready for — and do not want — traditional home care. They manage personal care, make decisions, and enjoy their homes. What they need is help with the details: another person at an appointment, a ride, an organized calendar, a follow-up call, help sorting paperwork, or regular connection with someone they know. Extraordinary was designed for that space between “everything is fine” and “full caregiving is needed.”

Mental Load

The Details Add Up

You may be coordinating appointments during your workday, interpreting a provider voicemail, checking whether groceries are in the house, finding someone to meet a repair technician, or wondering whether a small change means anything. Desi can take responsibility for agreed-upon tasks, document what was completed, and help the family understand what still needs attention.

Nearby Families

Even Twenty Minutes Away Can Be Too Far on a Tuesday Afternoon

Living nearby does not make your schedule flexible. Extraordinary can cover appointments and errands that conflict with work, school pickups, travel, or your own household responsibilities — without pushing you out of the relationship that matters.

Long-Distance Families

A Trusted Local Point of Contact

When you live in another city or state, small uncertainties can become constant worry. With your parent’s permission, Desi can provide agreed-upon updates, coordinate local details, and communicate when something deserves follow-up.

Communication

You Will Know What Happened — With Your Parent’s Permission

The client decides what may be shared and with whom. Together, Desi and the client establish communication preferences, authorized contacts, and the type of updates that are helpful.

When Something Changes

Experienced Attention Without Overstepping

Desi does not diagnose or provide clinical monitoring through Extraordinary. Her nursing background means she has spent a career listening, observing, organizing information, and knowing when a question should be raised. If something appears concerning, she can communicate the observation to the client and, when authorized, to family or the appropriate healthcare office.

Client Agency

Your Parent Remains in Charge

Extraordinary is not about taking over someone’s life. The client chooses the goals, approves the plan, controls access to information, and decides which family members are involved. The service exists to make independence more sustainable — not to replace it.

Extraordinary may be a good fit when…

  • —Your parent is independent or mostly independent but could use consistent practical support.
  • —Appointments and healthcare information are becoming difficult to coordinate.
  • —You need a reliable local person for agreed-upon tasks.
  • —Your parent wants companionship without a rotating caregiver team.
  • —You want clearer communication while respecting your parent’s privacy and choices.
